Time to crack open a copy of Doom: The Board Game – the new 2016 edition!
Back in 2004, Doom: The Board Game was a refreshing and revolutionary take on the classic dungeoncrawler. The ingeniously simple mechanics by Kevin Wilson were the inspiration for Descent and countless other ‘dudes in a corridor’ games. But it did have some problems – mainly, the time it took to play. But though games may have dragged on deep into the night on several occasions, it did somehow stay pretty fun throughout its long length.
With the relase last year of a new DOOM video game, Fantasy Flight decided to revamp the old board game and give us this new version. And though it flew under the radar a bit, it’s been getting very good reviews. Let’s have a look inside the box and find out if it’s time to retire the old and bring in the new!
Looks really nice.
Liked the old one a lot…but my players found it to be too difficult. The minis look cool…and if it plays different it might justify another buy 🙂
Apparently it’s very fast-playing and fun. I’ll keep you posted.
