The kind folks at Deep Cut Studio have sent me a few gaming mats for review over the years, but I’ve been holding onto this one for way too long now, searching for a location that could top my last review video. A recent trip over to the upper west coast of New Zealnd finally gave me the opportiunity.
Hokitika Gorge is a stunning place in the native bush inland from the little town of Hokitika. A swingbridge over turquoise water makes for a classic New Zealand view, and of course, a perfect place to unveil a gaming mat. It’s all about the terrain after all!

I wholeheartedly endorse the Deep Cut mats – I’ve got a 6×3 foot one for Runewars, and it’s a gorgeous piece of work.
And I had to bypass Hokitika Gorge on my trip around the South Island – such a shame. Looks I need to be coming back. 😉
