A dark fantasy RPG miniatures game.
I contacted Shadowborne Games about two years ago when the Kickstarter campaign for Oathsworn: Into the Deepwood was launched, because like most campaigns it looked great. Little did I realise the final result would be a game that might be my game of the year 2022.
Kickstarters promise a lot, and the ‘dark fantasy RPG game’ space is full to bursting with ambitious coop games. But this one, thankfully, is something different. There’s a definite sense of craftsmanship and care about the whole production, from the excellent artwork, to the well-written rulebooks, to the excellent story (so far!). I say so far because one of the best things about this game is that you just don’t know what’s coming next. There are two boxes full of miniatures and I have no idea what’s in them. Each ‘big bad’ will be revealed at the end of each story chapter, and I can hardly wait to see what horrible monsters we’ll have to fight, and how the exciting story develops, in the months to come.
I’ve got lots to talk about when it comes to Oathsworn, so please check out my review for heaps of information and a good look at the game. In the meantime, you can download my rules summary and reference, which condenses each of the two rulebooks onto a sheet each (and some play reference sheets) – without missing a thing!
Cool Rules Summary. Can we get a copy that doesn’t duplicate the Combat and Encounters pages? That would reduce the page count to 6 (3 f/b).
If you’re referring to the last two pages, they’re supposed to be player reference sheets, ‘summarised summaries’ that players can refer to as they play. It’s something I do with all my summaries. If you mean the duplication of the player reference sheets (2 to a page), I do that so you can print off 2 at a time – 2 on the front, 2 on the back – as they’re references for the players and you’ll need more of them.
Can we get an update for rules regarding fire tiles, field medic, and rewards?
I’ll be updating this when I get the new material.
