Unboxing the mind-blasting cultish insanity of Evil High Priest by Petersen Games!
Last year I had the pleasure of working with the folks at Petersen Games on a few projects, one of which was to edit and design the rulebook for this game, Evil High Priest.
It’s a very enjoyable game of worker placement (though in this case you’re placing not workers, but insane cultists) in an attempt to awaken your chosen Great Old One to take over the world. (You really would have to be seriously insane wouldn’t you? I mean, if you succeed you’re not exactly going to be set up as ruler of your own planet or anything. Or are you?)
Some months later, here I am unboxing the finished product. The game features heaps of variety depending on which Great Old One you choose to try to awaken. And this is one case where the expansion are absolutely mandatory, as they add lots of variety and excitement to the core game.
It was great to work with such a nice bunch of people (I have to admit when I talked to Sandy for the first time I had to gush a bit about how I grew up with Call of Cthulhu). Next in line for Petersen Games is the game that I did quite a bit of design work on, Planet Apocalypse!
