There’ll be food and drink and ghosts, and perhaps even a few murders. You’re all invited.
This is where it all began: one of the most thematic games of its time, 1971’s Haunted House!
Being a person obsessed with boardgames as I am, I sometimes wonder where it all started. What was it that sparked my imagination so much that I was set me on the path to buying and playing hundreds of games? Well it all seems to go back to one game that was so exciting for me as a child that it burned itself into my consciousness. A game that seemed to be an entire Tim Burtonesque world in a box, long before anyone knew who Tim Burton was. A three-dimensional wonderland long before 3D graphics, a thrill ride in a cardboard box: Haunted House!
Haunted House — or Which Witch? as it was known in the USA — has been one of my holy grails for a while now, and I just recently lucked upon a complete copy in great condition for sale in the UK. Here it is, unboxed for your enjoyment, and I hope it brings you as much nostalgic joy as it brings me, to once again see this game in all its glory. It joins the Esoteric Order of Games collection in pride of place!
I had this in the early 80s, but it had been re-skinned and was called Ghost Castle!
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I’d forgotten all about it. Keep up the good work.
My pleasure Dan, thanks!
