I have a strange illusion quite often.
In this addendum to the series of Joy of Unpacking, we take you for a look around the new EOG studio, where everything that was unpacked now has a place.
You could make a case for the generalisation that gamers are an organised, slightly obsessive lot. After all, there’s a lot to keep track of in your average game, components to organise and rules systems to learn. And this tends to appeal to the kind of people who live their life in the same way. Being an organised fellow since I was young, tabletop gaming is a natural fit for my own, slightly compulsive personality.
Though I must point it out it doesn’t necessarily apply to all aspects of my life – I’m quite happy to throw some clothes in the corner of the room or leave the dishes unwashed occasionally!
So if you’re curious how the games at the Esoteric Order of Gamers are organised, here’s a look around the new Universal Head/EOG studio, filmed during my friend Will’s recent visit. This is where all those games we unpacked together a while back ended up. The miniature organisation system alone is something I’ve been working on for about six months…
Hope you find this interesting, fellow gamers. Enjoy!
Thanks for sharing your collection and work space! This seriously looks like the shelves of merch at my flgs!
Most of all, I’m very jealous of the AT43 boxes! (You have the Oni and Cog boxes plus Karman jetbikes!) And… The Eames chair!
Truly you are a man of great taste… and unrestrained passion (obsession?) for games!
Thank you Mike, that’s very kind of you to say so. I was lucky to start collecting AT-43 early on, so I got quite a bit of it together. The ONI army could do with a bit of beefing up though. 🙂
Really glad you enjoyed this video. I do love my Eames chair – I’d always wanted one. It’s a beautiful 80s reproduction and a 50th birthday present from my partner, Carol.
Great video!! Very nice storage setup!! Regarding AT-43 (and Confrontation) – I still hope you are planning on doing videos showcasing your collections of those games….and maybe another Batrep or two??
I haven’t got a new batrep for either of them coming up, but I can certainly showcase the collection if that would be of interest.
I would be very interested…:)
I thought was Blofield at first…. sitting in a chair… stroking his cat…. book 🙂
“No, Mr Bond, I expect you to game!”
I think you’re misquoting Goldfinger there, not Blofeld.
Damn, I thought I’d get away with it!
WOW! What a great place for a great collection!!!
You do know you’ve probably inspired a generation of gamers to have a setup just like yours?
I hope they have enough information to recreate it accurately in the museum of the future. 🙂
Think we need a 4K video and you have to linger lovingly over every rack so we can see what you have to recreate it 🙂
That’s an awesome setup. I am jealous of the space, my collection is in a room far too cramped. I would love an open room like that. I miss having a basement for exactly this reason.
Peace
Over many years, my game collection has lived in a shared garage, a small inner city apartment office, a storage facility … I can understand your frustration. 🙂
Excellent collection and organisation! Alas, my man-cave can hold only a fraction of that, and display even less.
massive collection , love it… great taste in games , sad for me that you live in New Zealand and not in Belgium… keep up the awesoem videos
I’m sure Belgium’s lovely, but I’m quite happy here thanks! 🙂 Cheers Kurt.
